London Accessibility Report: The Tube
Click on the links within the text of the page to open additional resources or images of accommodations. There are three stations in the area: Russell Square, Euston and Goodge Street. All three stations are not accessible to wheelchair users. There are stairs and escalators to the trains. A must for chairusers to have is the Tube Access Guide that shows all the stations and whether they are accessible or not. It is possible to change trains at some stations without stairs/escalators but then it may not be possible to exit the station. For more information check the websites: Transport for London and Transport for London - London Underground. There is a modern low floor bus service called Stationlink that links all the stations on the green and red lines. The buses run on a circular route in both directions seven days a week. The fare is 1 pound. In general, public transportation in London is not very accessible. Many folks I talked to said that the easiest way to get about would be to take taxis. Each Tube station
has booths to buy tickets and generally there is a person there who can
help answer questions. The booths are not always on the ground floor,
sometimes you need to take an escalator down to that section. The Tube
Access Guide is available at each station and all the workers have received
training in how to help people with disabilities. |
