2007 International Opportunities Fair Participant Descriptions MSU/US based opportunities with an international focus Opportunities for individuals and groups to volunteer, intern, teach, work, take cultural classes, and travel abroad
MSU Center for Advanced Study of International Development (CASID) The Graduate and Undergraduate Specializations in International Development supported by CASID are designed for students who wish to increase their understanding of the process of continuity and change in various regions of the world, particularly Africa, Asia, Eurasia, and Latin America. Multidisciplinary in theory and practice, the specializations are based on methodologies, theories, and literatures of the social sciences and liberal arts and involve faculty from the social sciences, arts, languages, and applied professional fields. MSU Dept. of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian, and African Languages This Department offers undergraduate degree programs in Linguistics, German, Russian, and East Asian Languages and Cultures (with an emphasis on either Japanese or Chinese). Graduate programs are available in Linguistics (MA and PhD). In addition, the department offers undergraduate language programs in Arabic, Hausa, Hebrew, Hindi, Korean, Nepali, Ojibwe (Anishinaabemowiin), Swahili, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. MSU Dept. of Spanish & Portuguese The Department offers graduate programs in Spanish, including the MA in Hispanic Literatures, MA in Spanish Applied Linguistics, and PhD in Hispanic Cultural Studies. They also offer internships and work abroad programs. The Refugee Development Center has opportunities for volunteers to work with refugees in the mid-Michigan area. The U.S. State Department offers internships and opportunities as Foreign Service officers and State Department civil servants. |
