Tales from Abroad

Summer 2001

Students in the U.K. and Ireland"This past summer I was part of the History/Arts and Humanities program in the UK and Ireland where I had one of the best times of my life. The experience I had was amazing. I had a chance to visit Wimbledon, the British Open and the Old Course at St. Andrews: to a golf and tennis fan, it doesn't get much better!

With all of my adventures, I got far more out of this program academically than I would have in a classroom in East Lansing. As an engineer, I have no shame in admitting that history is not something I would chose to study, but to experience it first hand is something totally different! Everything I learned about all the churches, castles, and museum became so much more interesting when I was there to walk through them. I wish I were still in Europe: it was an experience I will never forget.

Thank you for the time of my life!"
