"Imagine yourself in a narrow area surrounded by trees, unusual pavement on the ground and a building that resembles a castle. You are already experiencing my first impression of Ireland. While I was in Cork, a few friends and I went for a walk around the city. While walking down the sidewalk we noticed a building that looked like a castle but was partly torn down. I wondered why the building was still standing if it had no purpose. I asked a male individual what the reason was for the building to still be standing and he told me that the castles were important to his culture because of the longevity that it took to gain back what was theirs in the first place (land). I’m not saying this was a fact, but from his tone I could tell that the older buildings did mean a lot to him. I learned about perspectives. To me, it’s just an old building on a side street, but to the Irish individual it was a piece of history."
